Sir Jimmy Savile's fans will be able to pay their respects at his coffin in a Leeds hotel later - a day before his funeral takes place.

The DJ's closed coffin will be on display at The Queens Hotel before a Requiem Mass at St Anne's Cathedral.

A room at the hotel will be open for most of the day for well-wishers.

The Jim'll Fix It and Top of the Pops presenter, who died aged 84 at home in Leeds on 29 October, will then be buried in Scarborough on Thursday.

He owned a flat in the seaside town and spent much of his time there.

Sir Jimmy's family have confirmed his burial will also be a public event, including a final drive down the town's well-known seafront.
Childhood home

The veteran DJ, who raised millions of pounds for charity during his lifetime, was found at his Roundhay flat two days before his 85th birthday.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were among those who paid tribute to the star after his death.

On Wednesday, Sir Jimmy's funeral cortege will be driven through Leeds on its way to the St Anne's Cathedral service at 14:00 GMT, passing by his childhood home on Consort Terrace, and by Leeds General Infirmary.

Sir Jimmy, who was born in Leeds, started his working life as a miner before running a series of clubs and working as a wrestler and DJ.
